Cochon Butcher

Ok, so I don't normally eat out this often, but we are leaving town this weekend and I didn't want to go to the grocery. We decided to check out Cochon Butcher tonight and it proved to be well worth it!
The Butcher is a sweet little restaurant and butcher shop located behind Cochon. They house cure their meat and stuff their own sausages. While obviously their main fare is pork, they also have some great sides and a few other non-swine related sandwiches. Tonight we opted for all pork though. There was such an amazing menu that it was hard to choose but after much debate I let my boyfriend choose 2 sandwiches for us to split. He chose a pastrami sandwich on toasted rye with sauerkraut and "The Gambino." The latter sandwich is an awesome combination of spicy coppa, cotto salami, sopressatta, arugula, red onions, and an herb vinaigrette on a soft roll.

As if this wasn't enough food, I couldn't pass up the heirloom tomato salad with burrata cheese and basil. Oh, and did I mention they have amazing cocktails? We paired our meal with a dark & stormy and the sWine Killer (gin, housemade limeade, and a cherry.)
Is your mouth watering yet? The pastrami sandwich was definitely rich, the bread was buttered and then toasted, making it a perfect companion to the thinly sliced meat, creamy dijonnaise and sauerkraut. "The Gambino" was definitely my favorite though. It was a little lighter than the pastrami sandwich and the addition of fresh arugula and raw onions paired well with the salty salami. Both sandwiches were paired with homemade chips and bread and butter pickles. I was drawn to every small plate on the menu but I am glad I chose the light and fresh heirloom tomato salad. This salad has burrata cheese in it, and just in case you have never had it or heard of it, its heavenly. It is like a combination of ricotta and super soft mozzarella. It went great with the basil, cucumbers, and tomatoes.
So this restaurant is a definite YES! If you couldn't tell by the first few sentences of this review... I will definitely be back. My only regret is not saving room for dessert! I highly recommend Cochon Butcher and I can't wait to try it's big brother, Cochon.
Please check it out, and Happy Dining!
