Miriam

This is the one place I am reviewing that we have actually been to before, so we know it is great already. We decided to go for brunch again because it was such an incredible meal last time. Miriam is the only Israeli restaurant I have ever been to that does brunch, and that's a shame because it is good!
I will admit I got the same thing I did a year ago because it was so amazing. Burekas is a puff pastry stuffed with feta and olives served with eggs, labneh, tahini, and an Israeli salad consisting of tomatoes, cucumbers, and parsley. I am the type of person that likes to mix everything on my plate together so I definitely made sure to taste each thing separately before doing so. Each individual item was flavorful but once they were all together in one bite it was heavenly. The puff pastry was light, not greasy and the tahini wasn't traditional, it was green (probably from parsley) and incredible.
This restaurant is in Park Slope in Brooklyn, so it is a bit of a trek if you are staying in Manhattan but is totally worth the trip. It's on a street lined with nifty stores and coffee shops so you can make an afternoon out of it. If you decide to cross the river, I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Happy Dining!

  1. There's also a miriam in my old neighborhood - cobble hill (the restaurant's on Court Street)... easier to get to from the city! I love the brunch there too!
